Owned-system case record

Rebuilding Field Theory's own commercial system.

This record documents an internal rebuild: the problems observed, decisions made, artifacts shipped, tests passed, and limitations that remain. It reports implementation evidence, not traffic, conversion, or revenue results.

Observed state

What the prior system made difficult

The original site had a distinctive visual language, but the commercial foundation could not support responsible promotion. The clearest problems were observable in the public experience and source.

  • The offer expanded across websites, brand, ecommerce, intake, workflow, and AI without a clear commercial hierarchy.
  • Three case cards presented unsupported numerical outcomes as verified results.
  • The inquiry interface could display a successful transmission without a durable data write.
  • The site identified Atlanta despite the practice being led from Savannah.
  • About, process, engagement, privacy, terms, and substantive editorial routes were absent.
  • Metadata, crawl assets, schema, mobile navigation, and release-integrity safeguards were incomplete.

Decision

Truth before traffic

The release sequence began by removing anything the evidence could not support. The site now describes representative artifacts as representative, treats the current email draft as an email draft, and avoids promises about response time or outcomes that the operating system cannot yet guarantee.

The commercial position narrowed around established service and family businesses whose reputation has outgrown their message, website, proof, intake, or follow-up system.

Shipped system

What now exists

  • A complete homepage plus About, Process, Engagements, Privacy, and Terms.
  • Four substantive Field Notes answering specific owner questions.
  • A free, ungated 14-question Field Friction Map with immediate scoring and practical actions.
  • A distinct project-inquiry path that preserves context and accurately opens an email draft.
  • Public positioning and buyer-path working artifacts, plus a clearly labeled target-state intake blueprint, that can be inspected without a gate.
  • Unique metadata, canonicals, social previews, structured data, robots, sitemap, RSS, and web manifest.
  • Mobile navigation, keyboard and focus support, contrast adjustments, reduced-motion behavior, and branded error states.
  • Build, route, claim-integrity, and production-monitoring safeguards.

Verification

What the release candidate passed

These are pre-release build and server-rendered checks for this change set. They are not a claim that the new routes have already passed production monitoring. The same release must be checked again after publication.

  • Every release-candidate sitemap route returned the intended status in a local production server with a unique title, description, and canonical URL.
  • The 404 path returned a real 404 and a noindex response header.
  • The 14-question map accepted a complete synthetic run and rendered the total, four field scores, primary pattern, and three actions.
  • Empty inquiry submission remained on the page and exposed accessible field errors.
  • Automated source checks found none of the old unsupported metrics, false-success language, Atlanta positioning, or legacy copy in the release candidate.
  • Build, TypeScript, and source-integrity checks passed before release.

Limitations

What this record cannot claim

The rebuild was published on August 28, 2026. It is too early to report search growth, conversion change, qualified inquiry volume, booked meetings, pipeline, or revenue impact. No such outcome is implied here.

Durable intake, transactional email, CRM routing, private scheduling, and end-to-end source-to-revenue reporting still require authorized production services. Until those are connected and tested, the inquiry remains a clearly labeled email-draft fallback.
